A conversation needs to be had about Chicago Bears defensive end Dayo Odeyingbo after the performance of his backup, Austin Booker, in the Bears' incredible 47-42 win over the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 9.
Odeyingbo was not able to have a strong game once again after having just one tackle and one quarterback hit in the win. Late in the game, Odeyingbo left the game early with an injury. He failed to provide as much pressure as his colleagues, Booker and Montez Sweat, were able to.
Sweat had another stellar game with two tackles, two pass deflections, one tackle for loss, one quarterback hit, and one sack. He also had a sack and strip fumble that was not counted after the call was reversed.
Booker also had a good game as he returned to action for the first time this regular season after his knee injury. He had two tackles, one tackle for loss, one quarterback hit, and one sack in his return.
It's time to talk about how bad of a move it was for Ryan Poles to sign Odeyingbo
During the offseason, Bears general manager Ryan Poles signed Odeyingbo to a three-year, $48 million contract despite all the concerns about his lack of sacks he produces. Odeyingbo still remains at just one sack on the season.
Booker was able to match that in just one game. With Booker's one sack, too, he bulldozed Bengals tackle Orlando Brown Jr. to get to Joe Flacco for the sack. That's something Bears fans have yet to see from Odeyingbo.
In the preseason, Booker has four sacks in two games and showed that he could do something on the field. The question was whether he could carry that momentum into the regular season, and he sure did that.
Now the question moving forward is whether Bears defensive coordinator Dennis Allen should make a change at defensive end. Depending on the severity of his injury, Odeyingbo might not see much of the field.

Regardless, Booker has earned the right to be the other edge rusher alongside Sweat. What a game he had in his return.
