Monday afternoon, Chicago Bears fans were sent into a frenzy after the team had officially come to terms with their new head coach, Ben Johnson.
The former Detroit Lions offensive coordinator is coming to Chicago to coach Caleb Williams. Today is officially a new day at Halas Hall, and fans have a lot of reason to be excited.
There are going to be several impacts and ripple effects of the Johnson hiring, of course starting with the Bears' coaching staff being filled out. Johnson could potentially be putting together quite the staff, having already hired Dennis Allen as his defensive coordinator.
And, as the staff continues to get filled out, the hype will only continue to build around this Bears team.
It didn't take long for Vegas to get the ball rolling in regards to some Bears momentum going into next season.
Just moments after the Bears hired Johnson, their 2026 Super Bowl odds went from +6000 to +4000.
As they say, coaching matters.
The Bears' 2026 Super Bowl odds will only continue to improve
This might not seem like a monumental fact for some fans, but it speaks volumes. The Bears have a long way to go this offseason, starting with free agency here in just less than two months. This, of course, is followed by the 2025 NFL Draft where the Bears currently hold four picks in the top 75.
Just wait until Chicago starts addressing top needs such as their offensive line. Those odds are only going to shift even more.
More on Ben Johnson:
Now, I'm not saying the Bears should, or will eventually be, Super Bowl favorites next season. However, this team is going to be better.
Sure, that sounds like something fans say every offseason. But, for the first time in recent memory, the Bears have actually gone out and made the hire which everybody was telling them to make. It was the right move. They didn't try to outsmart the league.
No, the Bears hired the best man available for the job, and that's a huge change. That's going to inspire even more hope than Chicago experienced last year when they drafted Caleb Williams.
Why?
Because. Coaching. Matters.
And if any fan base understands that fact, it's Chicago. Thank God we're done with the days of Matt Eberflus, Matt Nagy, John Fox and Marc Trestman. It's been a long road, but the Bears made the right decision for once.
