The wait is over: Kyler Gordon is officially back for the Chicago Bears.
Chicago announced on social media that Gordon has been activated from the PUP list and added to the 53-man roster after missing the first five games of the season with his soft-tissue injury. He is in line to make his 2026 season debut in Week 6 against the Atlanta Falcons.
Last year, Gordon played in just three games, recording seven tackles, one tackle for loss, one quarterback hit, one sack, and one fumble recovery. He also played in both playoff games, finishing with 10 tackles, two pass deflections, one tackle for loss, one quarterback hit, and one sack.
Kyler Gordon is back for the Chicago Bears and in line to play in Week 6
This has been one of the most frustrating situations for Bears fans, as there were no clear answers on when Gordon would be back and what was going on. Gordon continuously shared videos on social media to show that he was working his way back.
The good news is that he is back at a time that the Bears need him badly. This is a secondary that has mightily struggled in coverage with starting corners Jaylon Johnson and Tyrique Stevenson allowing passer ratings of over 100 on the year. Rookie cornerback Malik Muhammad has been the best player at the position.
Gordon can move right back into the starting lineup as the slot corner, so that will give them some stablility there. A veteran corner that can be great in blitzes and coverage when he is healthy.
The biggest question is now whether Stevenson's hip injury will cause him to miss Week 6 and that becomes Muhammad's spot or what will the Bears do at outside cornerback. Many Chicago fans have been calling for Muhammad to be a starter on the team despite struggling in their Week 5 loss to the Green Bay Packers.
This will now give the Bears a better idea on their secondary and how the unit looks moving forward. If Gordon plays well, that could give Chicago some flexibility in case they want to make changes. Something might have to be done at cornerback with Johnson and Stevenson struggling.
