The city of Chicago is buzzing as everyone heads back to work after the holidays, following the Bears' statement win over the Philadelphia Eagles.

Chicago took down Philly 24-15 on Black Friday to stay in first place in the NFC North. Things got even better when the Carolina Panthers upset the Los Angeles Rams 31-28, which helped the Bears move into first place in the NFC.

Speaking on 670 The Score, David Haugh said credit needs to go to the coaching staff, including head coach Ben Johnson and defensive coordinator Dennis Allen. Haugh also mentioned that some love needs to be given to general manager Ryan Poles for the offensive line's reconstruction.

"You have to give credit to Ryan Poles for this offensive line being put together in a variety of ways. Through the draft, through free agency, and through different trades. So, they have an offensive line that as you pointed out is now becoming recognized as one of the best, if not the best, in the National Football League."

Poles did a masterful job with building the roster up

Poles did everything he could this offseason to make sure quarterback Caleb Williams would never take 68 sacks in a season again. The Bears traded for Joe Thuney and Jonah Jackson while signing center Drew Dalman in free agency and selected Ozzy Trapilo in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft.

During the Eagles game, the Bears' offensive line was on full display with those four players previously mentioned, as well as star right tackle Darnell Wright, as they helped the offense gain 281 yards on the ground. Kyle Monangai and D'Andre Swift each had over 100 yards in the game, the first time that's happened in 40 years.

While the coaching aspect is huge with Johnson and Allen doing a great job with this team, Poles took a lot of criticism to get to this point, where he has finally put together a winning football team for the first time in his tenure. A ton of credit has to be given to Poles for trusting his gut and giving the city of Chicago a football team they can be proud of.
