It's been a couple of days since the Chicago Bears put on probably the greatest offensive show the majority of fans, today, have ever seen from the franchise.
In an electric 59-37 win over the Carolina Panthers, Chicago's offense sent a message that backed up exactly what head coach Ben Johnson wanted to accomplish going into the season: have the highest-scoring offense in league history.
While it's just one game, and the season is a long one, what we saw in this game was so much more than just encouraging.
It was history.
The Bears messed around and broke or tied a whopping EIGHT records in this victory.
The Bears set a pair of franchise records in their Week 1 victory over the Panthers
Record number 1: 59 points scored is the most points scored by a Bears offense, in a season opener, in franchise history.
Looking back at this point total, my biggest takeaway, like many Bears fans, is the fact that Chicago did this without really involving Rome Odunze beyond one big reception, without Luther Burden III scoring and without Colston Loveland touching the ball at all.
If you were to tell me the Bears would score nearly 60 points in Week 1, I would've assumed Burden, Loveland and Odunze all got into the end zone. It would've been a near-given, in my mind.
But no, this offense still has areas to unlock -- and that is terrifying.
Record number 2: 552 yards of offense is the most yards accumulated by a Bears offense, in a season opener, in franchise history.
The underlying numbers, here, are precisely what will make the Bears such a lethal team this season. Caleb Williams accounted for over 300 yards by himself, both running and passing.
But the Bears, as a team, ran the ball for 291 yards and had a pair of 100-yard rushers with D'Andre Swift and Kyle Monangai.
If Williams is capable of totaling 300 yards and you have two backs who can go for triple digits, look out.

Record number 3: Caleb Williams had his 8th-straight game with at least two touchdown passes
Quietly dating back to last season, Williams is starting to showcase more of that arm talent, and in a manner that puts points on the board. Everybody in Chicago wants a 4,000-yard passer and 30 touchdown passes. We're starved of it.
And, if Williams keeps this pace, he'll easily surpass 30 touchdown passes this year.
Record number 4: Caleb Williams reached 49 touchdown passes in his first three seasons which surpassed Mitchell Trubisky (48) for most in that timespan
Everyone's first thought should automatically be, "He still has 16 more games to go!"
He sure does. By the time this season is over, Williams will have completely shattered this one. Now, that's not saying much when the record is held by Trubisky -- and we won't even go there.
But, if Williams does go over 30 touchdown passes this year -- and I think he'll end somewhere around 35 -- that'll put him over 80 in three years.
Record number 5: Caleb Williams became the first Bears quarterback to throw for at least 200 yards and two passing touchdowns while rushing for at least 50 yards and two rushing touchdowns
I can think of two Bears quarterbacks who might have had a shot at this feat other than Williams, and both were in recent seasons: Justin Fields and Mitchell Trubisky.
Neither one of them were able to put it together like Williams does, and the best part is, he's only getting started.

Record number 6: The Bears became the fourth NFL team ever to rush for six touchdowns in a season opener
It is now a four-way tie between the 2026 Bears, the 1920 Detroit Heralds, 1920 Rock Island Independents and the 1922 Canton Bulldogs.
So, the Bears were the first team to do it in over 100 years. I'd say that's a big deal.
Record number 7: The Bears became only the third NFL team since 1950 to rush for over 200 yards and six touchdown in a game
Interestingly enough, the other two occasions were both by the New Orleans Saints and within the last decade (2017 and 2020).
Record number 8: The Bears and Panthers set a new NFL record for most points scored in a season opener with 96
This isn't exactly the kind of record you want to be part of, of course, because it also sheds light on the brutal reality of the Bears' defense.
That's another topic altogether, but alas, we've made it through all eight records.
What a game it was.
