It's somewhat fitting that, as the Chicago Bears put the bow on the 2023 trade with the Carolina Panthers, it was more confirmation that the organization is doing everything in their power to make sure that Caleb Williams takes a leap forward in his development during the 2025 season.

With the No. 39 selection in the draft, the Bears took wide receiver Luther Burden. Ironically, at one point, Burden and Williams were going to be college teammates. Now, Burden's arrival only adds to the list of play-makers the Bears have assembled for their second-year quarterback.

The Bears are setting the stage for no Caleb Williams' excuses

That does sound like familiar territory for Bears fans, as the organization took a similar approach to Mitch Trubisky and Justin Fields. Now, to the credit of those quarterbacks, it was clear the Bears' front office did not put the best foot forward in their respective developments.

This offseason, the Bears have completely turned over the offensive line. If Ozzy Trapilo unseats Braxton Jones as the Bears' starting left tackle, that would leave Darnell Wright as the only returning starting offensive lineman next season.

Collectively, the offensive talent that the Bears have assembled for the 2025 season may be better than what they had during the 2024 season. There is some hindsight in that statement as at the time of the 2024 season, Keenan Allen regressing wasn't forecasted. Nor was it forecasted that Shane Waldron would possibly be the worst offensive coordinator hire in the history of the organization.

Now, Williams is armed with a revamped offensive line and creative play-makers in DJ Moore, Rome Odunze, Burden, Cole Kmet, Colston Loveland, and D'Andre Swift. There is also a chance that the Bears add to that mix by taking a running back on the final day of the draft. Not to mention, Ben Johnson is Williams' head coach now.

The stage is set for Williams to have a breakout season with the Bears in 2025. Make no mistake, it's a development that the Bears will need to see at the quarterback position.
