During their bye week, the Chicago Bears got to watch as the rest of the NFC North expended every bit of energy in a couple of games which went down to the wire.
The Minnesota Vikings and Detroit Lions battled until the very end, with Detroit handing Minnesota their first loss on the year. Meanwhile, the Green Bay Packers pulled out a late win over the Houston Texans, continuing to make this division look like the best in the league.
On the other side of the NFL, though, Bears fans got a chance to witness an old foe fall once again, now in the AFC.
Former Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has been in plenty of headlines over the past couple of weeks as the New York Jets continue to falter. It all began when the Jets fired head coach Robert Saleh, and Rodgers was of course questioned over and over again as to whether he had anything to do with the decision.
Then, the Jets went out and traded for another familiar face, Davante Adams, in effort to salvage their season.
Come Sunday night, in a Week 7 matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Jets faced what many called a must-win game in prime time. New York would end up dropping this one and ultimately falling to 2-5 on the year, which puts Rodgers in a tough spot going forward.
After the game in which Rodgers clearly didn't have his best night, he was asked by reporters how he and his teammates can keep hope alive.
More Bears news:
It was comedic gold for Bears fans, and peak Rodgers, to be frank.
"How do you get everybody to keep their belief?" Rodgers was asked.
The veteran quarterback then actually cut off the reporter mid-sentence when it sounded like he wasn't quite done with the full question.
"Stop listening to you guys ... number one," Rodgers retorted.
Now, Rodgers did go on to say that he and his teammates need to be accountable for their play. He did note that he must play better, to which every Jets fan likely nodded their head in sarcastic (but not really) agreement.
Aaron Rodgers might actually be done, and Bears fans have waited a long time to say that
Looking at Rodgers' performance on Sunday night and taking his entire season into consideration, it might be time to say that this guy is done. Rodgers is now tied for the second-most interceptions in the league, this year, with seven.
We're talking about a quarterback who has infamously stayed interception-free, for the majority of his career. Rodgers has already thrown more interceptions, this year, than he had in eight other seasons during his lengthy career. And, no, that's not even including the first three years he sat behind Brett Favre.
The fact of the matter is, Rodgers is old and coming off an Achilles tear. This might be it for him, and I think I speak on behalf of Bears fans everywhere when I say, it's about time.
The Bears have a winning record. Rodgers is washed. And, Jordan Love leads the league in interceptions even while missing two games this season, so far.
What a world we're living in.
