Chicago Bears fans are going to get sick of it, but the 2024 draft class will be compared to each other for the rest of their careers. So, it is going to be no shocker that the rankings are coming again, even though it is just Week 7 of their second seasons.
Did 2024 QB Rankings list underrate Caleb Williams?
Still, while it was Jayden Daniels who was causing writers to break down the class at this point last year, this year, the buzz is around Drake Maye. With Maye playing so well, the re-ranking had to be done to see if he had ascended to the top spot. According to Alex Kay of Bleacher Report, that is not the case.
To the disapproval of Bears fans, the top pick in 2024 came in at number four. Here is their official ranking
- Jayden Daniels
- Drake Maye
- Bo Nix
- Caleb Williams
- Michael Penix
- J.J. McCarthy
- Spencer Rattler
While Bears fans are worried about whether Williams should be in the discussion for one or two on the list, Kay believes the conversation is more about whether he is number three behind them, or if that is Nix.
Nix is the argument that most Bears fans make for Maye and Daniels, though. Nix had a strong rookie season, but in year two, we are already seeing limitations that make the offense clunky. He is a higher-floor player than Williams, but Williams still has the upside.
The reason Williams is not with Daniels and Maye right now is that these two not only have success in the NFL but are also physically impressive. Nothing that they are doing is fluky or schemed.
Both are highly accurate playmakers when the play breaks down, and you have seen them do sensational things to win games. Williams may get there, but it is much harder to say that he can catch these two than it is to say that Nix can.

So, while Bears fans may have been right to have a beef with this ranking, it is not that Williams isn't in the top two, but rather that he should be third on this list.
