Many Chicago Bears fans have taken great pleasure in seeing the Dallas Cowboys' defense struggle, thanks in part to their new defensive coordinator, Matt Eberflus.
Over the last three years, Eberflus made life miserable for Bears fans, leading the team to three straight losing seasons before being fired as Chicago's head coach. Now he's doing the same thing for the Cowboys' defense, which has been great to see for Bears fans.
It's gotten to the point that former Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant had something to say about Eberflus being the defensive coordinator for Dallas. Bears fans would be pleased to know that Bryant suggested that he lose his job, but the replacement is worse than they could imagine.
"There's a lot more to the thought process, but think about it….If I were Jerry… I would respectfully go in a different direction than DC Eberflus…not because he's a bad coach. I would offer Al Harris the DC job and let him find his defensive support."
George Pickens..I want you to understand that whenever it's time to negotiate your new contract..your legacy will be worth more than being the highest paid wide receiver..if you stayed with Cowboys. There's a lot more to the thought process, but think about it….If I were Jerry……

Bears might lose their top assistant coach after one season
Harris just joined the Bears this season as part of Ben Johnson's new coaching staff, serving as the defensive backs coach and defensive pass game coordinator. So far, he has had to deal with three defensive backs on IR, but he has turned what he has worked with into pure gold.
Kevin Byard III is leading the NFL with five interceptions, and backup-turned-starter Nahshon Wright is second in the league with four. Harris is also responsible for turning former safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson into an impactful nickel corner for Chicago.
Unfortunately, this has been a thought in the back of Bears fans' minds for the last month or so that Harris could be a prime candidate for a defensive coordinator job in the offseason. Harris has ties to Dallas, as he served as an assistant under former Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy from 2020 to 2024.

It would be rough for the Bears to lose Harris after the job he has done in 2025, but it would be understandable. Bears fans can be mad that Eberflus is again screwing them for hopefully the last time.
