Bears legend just called his shot on Caleb Williams as OTAs begin

I have a feeling no one would complain about this!

A day after the Chicago Bears made a splash extension with guard Joe Thuney, the team reports for OTAs. To say this is one of the most anticipated OTA sessions in recent memory wouldn't be hyperbole, either.

Quarterback Caleb Williams is going into Year 2, under an offensive mastermind in Ben Johnson, and with the necessary protection and weapons around him. One Bears icon is fully bought into the hype, too.

Charles Tillman joined Good Morning Football to speak on Williams as he heads into his second season, and his prediction for the young quarterback should have all fans in agreement.

Charles Tillman predicts a historic season for Caleb Williams in only his second year

"I expect to see his stats go way up by at least 30, 40 percent," he told the crew.

"The game slows down a little bit (in Year 2)," Tillman noted. "He's got the right people in place."

Just for fun, let's take a look at how Williams' 2025 season could realistically shake out if Tillman's prediction came to fruition. But, to be fair, we're not going to add a 40 percent increase to every number.

Projected 2025 stat line for Caleb Williams with an assist from Charles Tillman

4,603 yards (30 percent increase)
28 touchdowns (40 percent increase)
8 interceptions (40 percent increase)
611 rushing yards (25 percent increase)

It isn't absurd to think Williams could end up with a season like this. Jared Goff threw for at least 4,400 yards in each of the last three seasons under Johnson, and with a minimum of 29 touchdown passes.

Williams may not have the same level of offensive line as Goff did in Detroit, but it's far better than it was a year ago. You might also argue that Williams has just as much talent at his disposal between DJ Moore, Rome Odunze, Luther Burden, Cole Kmet and Colston Loveland.

The only gripe Bears fans might have about the above projected stat line is the idea that Williams doesn't surpass that long-avoided 30 passing touchdown threshold. But, if the Bears are winning football games, that comes secondary.
