For any Chicago Bears fans paying close attention to a certain division rival this offseason, there was a looming decision to be made. Finally, the Green Bay Packers decided to do it.
Green Bay cut ties with cornerback Jaire Alexander after months of speculation, but this is a move that could lead the Packers to landing an All-Pro replacement in the likes of Miami Dolphins star, Jalen Ramsey.
Ramsey has been on the trade block, absent from Dolphins offseason activities and everyone knows it's only a matter of time before Miami finds a trade partner. Now, the perfect trade partner has landed right in their laps.
It's the Packers, and Ben Johnson's new-look offense may see Ramsey soon enough.
Ben Johnson and the Bears might get the raw end of the deal after Jaire Alexander's release
While Alexander was a great cornerback when healthy, it's his health that forced the Packers to move on. He's had a difficult time staying on the field, thus Green Bay finally made the tough call to part ways.
Ramsey, though, is still considered a top corner in this league. The 7-time Pro Bowler and 3-time All Pro is still just 30 years old and coming off a season where he played in all 17 games. So, as of right now, health is on his side while it's not been too kind to Alexander.
Having played on a mediocre Miami team in recent years, Ramsey hasn't gotten the notoriety he once did. However, don't let that distract you from the fact that he's still fully capable. In fact, he posted his career-best (lowest) quarterback rating allowed, just recently, in 2023 (51.1).
Ramsey would be a massive upgrade for Green Bay because, right now, it looks like they'll have to ride with Keisean Nixon and Carrington Valentine on the outside. For those who might not be as familiar, let's just say the Bears could have a field day against those two outside corners.
If they landed Ramsey, though, the narrative immediately changes. Now that Alexander has been released, it's likely that the Ramsey trade talks will heat up and he'll find a new home. Will it be in Green Bay?
