When the Chicago Bears committed highway robbery by selecting Missouri wide receiver Luther Burden III in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft over the weekend, the pick sure invited plenty of reactions.
Some fans questioned the pick, for some reason, because the Bears seemed fairly set at the position -- or so they thought. Other fans raved about the selection because, now, that room looks like one of the best in the league.
You've got DJ Moore, Rome Odunze and now Burden all as top-tier weapons at wide receiver for Caleb Williams. Meanwhile, Olamide Zaccheaus, Devin Duvernay and Tyler Scott offer more depth and special teams potential. That room is diverse and stacked from top to bottom.
Across the division, though, the Green Bay Packers came out of the draft with some major questions at wide receiver going forward.
The Packers face a WR dilemma while the Bears are sitting pretty
Green Bay came away with two talented wide receivers in the draft after selecting Matthew Golden (Texas) in the first round and Savion Williams (TCU) in the third.
On one hand, Bears fans could loathe those additions made by a rival. However, despite adding talent, the Packers actually created quite a dilemma at the position.
Golden and Williams join a crowded wide receiver room in Green Bay which now has Packer fans asking tons of questions. Christian Watson is recovering from an injury and won't be back until well after the season has started, but he's still a former high pick, in a contract year, whom the team has to make a decision on.
Romeo Doubs is also in a contract year and has had his share of concerns in Green Bay. Will the Packers have to look at trading he or Watson? Which one is worth holding onto?
Then, there's Jayden Reed who appears pretty safe. He's the gadget guy.
But, what about Dontayvion Wicks? He had a ton of hype as a late-round pick who did some great things in limited opportunities. Do these draft picks mean they're disallowing Wicks to get more opportunity? A portion of the fan base has to be upset if he's relegated to sitting on the sideline even more going forward.
Green Bay has a ton to sort through at receiver, while the Bears are as comfortable and "set" as they've been in years. I'd argue they're even more comfortable than they were last year with Keenan Allen. Now, they've got a clear-cut no. 1 in Moore but two young, rising talents in Odunze and Burden.
Who has it better?
