It's been rough for him.

Chicago Bears general manager Ryan Poles spent a lot of money in the offseason to rebuild the offensive line around his franchise quarterback, Caleb Williams.

Poles went out and signed center Drew Dalman after he spent time with the Atlanta Falcons. The Bears' general manager also went out and traded for two interior offensive linemen in Joe Thuney from the Kansas City Chiefs and Jonah Jackson from the Los Angeles Rams.

After locking everyone up on new contracts, Poles spent $129.5 million among the three guys. With that kind of money, it should set up the Bears with a great offensive line, right?

Well, the 2025 season has been kind of up and down for the offensive line. The Bears' offense is in the bottom half of the league in rushing and has been inconsistent with protecting Williams in the pocket.

Chicago is still waiting to see the ROI on their three new linemen, but one has stood out from the others in terms of how much of a mistake it might have been to pay him high dollar.

Jackson has not lived up to his contract with the Bears

After being traded from the Rams to Chicago, Jackson signed an extension that made his agreement a three-year, $52.5 million contract through the 2027 season. This was the highest contract among the three interior linemen brought onto the team.

So far in 2025, Jackson has not only failed to live up to his contract, but he's arguably the worst offensive lineman in the starting lineup. His overall PFF grade is the fifth-worst on the team through four games, as he has a 52.8 grade. That ranks 70th out of 103 qualified guards in the NFL.

One positive for Jackson is that he hasn't allowed a sack through four games. Unfortunately, he has also allowed eight quarterback pressures and committed four penalties, the second most on the Bears, behind only Darnell Wright's six.

It's tough to write someone off after four games, but Jackson is struggling, and the team put a lot of money into him. He has a lot of work to do in the remaining 13 games to earn the trust of the organization and the fan base.
