Bears were 1 pick away from landing perfect Caleb Williams running mate

I guess running backs do matter :(

Life is really just all about timing.

For instance, sometimes you're really close to drafting someone really exciting. For the sake of this exercise, we'll call this person 'TreVeyon Henderson.' Sometimes, you're really close to drafting TreVeyon Henderson. So close, in fact, that you're less than three picks away from drating him. Two picks away, even. Sometimes, in life, you're one pick away from drafting TreVeyon Henderson.

But life doesn't care that you want to draft TreVeyon Henderson. Life has other plans for you, and for some bizarre reason they include the New England Patriots. By now, I know what you're thinking: this is a stupid hypothetical game and I don't want to talk about the Patriots anymore, especially with the Bears on the clock immediately after them.

But life doesn't work that way. Life sometimes dictates that the Patriots go ahead and draft that TreVeyon Henderson literally one (1) single spot ahead of you. Life thinks that you don't need a great young, talented running back to help compliment the rest of your young, talented offensive core. Life, apparently, thinks that the New England Patriots deserve to catch a break. Then life makes you stare at the Patriots tweeting out a picture of TreVeyon Henderson sponsored by Panini.

TreVeyon Henderson was absolutely a Chicago Bear ... untill he wasn't

The best news is that absolutely no one will remember any of this, thanks to Luther Burden. Credit where it's due: Ryan Poles and Ben Johson clearly saw that Bears Twitter was broken up about Henderson going to New England and pivoted to the flashy decision. Did the Bears need a wide receiver? I dunno, maybe. Did they need one badly enough to pounce in the first 20 minutes of the second round? I meannnnn ... no? But that doesn't really matter – it's all anyone's talking about, which means we've already forgot that the Patriots stole TreVeyon Henderson right out from under the Bears. King Poles does it again.
