The Chicago Bears will look to build off the success they had last season. They are going to lean heavily on Ben Johnson, and one player he has high hopes for is receiver Luther Burden. After moving on D.J. Moore, it put Burden into a bigger spotlight, and Johnson had some lofty comparisons for the sophomore receiver.
During a one-on-one interview, Cassie Carlson of FOX 32, Johnson expressed that Burden's fate is to become one of the best receivers in the league. He even compared Burden to Detroit Lions' Amon-Ra St. Brown and receiver Jarvis Landry.
"St. Brown in Detroit, who I have a strong affinity for, he plays the game the same way. I feel that from Luther. I know he wasn’t a full-time starter for us a year ago, but the snaps that he did have, he’s got that competitive edge and desire to be great. It’s carried over into the spring and summer as well. He’s been a regular in the building, working with our strength staff. He wants to be the most conditioned player on the team. Wants to be one of the strongest receivers on the team and just continues to soak in all the knowledge,” Johnson said.
Johnson also voiced that Landry was super competitive, played with a chip on his shoulder, and the team would elevate based on his style of play. Burden has these same traits that are standing out, and Johnson has sky-high hopes for him in 2026.

Both players had tremendous success in the NFL, and St. Brown has been one of the most productive players at his position. Johnson knows it firsthand, as he coached him for multiple seasons in Detroit.
And now he sees those same skills and traits in Burden. That should be exciting for fans, as Burden has flashed. He played in 40 percent of the offensive snaps, but he still finished with 47 receptions for 652 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
With Moore and his 85 targets from last year no longer around, the Bears will look to fill in those targets elsewhere. And fans should get used to seeing a ton of No. 10. Not only are fans high on Burden, but Johnson is adding fuel to the fire.

Burden has taken the steps this offseason to be as prepared as he can be in 2026. Being in the building on a consistent basis this offseason shows how locked in he is, not only on the field but also in the weight room. He knows the opportunity is there for the taking, and he seems ready to seize it.
