After the fantastic 6-3 start to the 2025 season for the Chicago Bears, fans are praying that starting cornerbacks Jaylon Johnson and Kyler Gordon will be able to return before the season ends for the playoff push. Bears head coach Ben Johnson just provided fans with an encouraging update they needed to hear.

Jaylon Johnson is currently out with a groin injury he suffered back in the Week 2 loss to the Detroit Lions, and Gordon is dealing with a groin and calf injury. Ben Johnson shared the first update on Jaylon Johnson with what he's doing to get back on the field.

"I just saw Jaylon in the weight room. He’s excited about where he is right now, and he’s hopeful he’ll be able to be out on the practice field here in the near future."

As for Gordon, Ben Johnson did not know when he would be back, but expects him soon.

"I can’t tell you exactly when but hopefully in the near future here."

Jaylon Johnson and Kyler Gordon would be great to have before last postseason push

Gordon will be eligible to return in time for the Week 12 showdown against the Pittsburgh Steelers when the Bears have a chance to open up his 21-day practice window. Jaylon Johnson has already been eligible to return, but his 21-day practice window has not been opened.

Chicago has been working with Tyrique Stevenson and Nahshon Wright on the outside, and C.J. Gardner-Johnson was signed to replace Gordon while he was out. Stevenson has had great moments, but has struggled too much. Gardner-Johnson has been playing well enough that there might be some questions about what happens when Gordon returns.

The Bears have dealt with multiple injuries on defense throughout the season, but Johnson and Gordon's have been the most impactful on the team. Their pass defense has suffered as a result, and they need their veterans back to help out.

With Chicago about to hit the tricky part of their schedule, if they can get Johnson and Gordon back for the playoff run, there's a chance the Bears can make it.
