At the beginning of the season, there were a ton of complaints about Chicago Bears right tackle Darnell Wright for his penalty issues. Since then, he has been as good as they come.
That was on full display against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 9 as Wright helped lead the way for a rushing attack that went for 283 yards, including rookie Kyle Monangai's 176 yards, in their 47-42 win. Wright finished the game with the highest Pro Football Focus overall grade of any player on the Bears, with a staggering 94.1.
Bears head coach Ben Johnson was asked about Wright and his recent play. Johnson has been pleased with the performance of his right tackle.
"I'm just really proud with how consistent he has been."
Two moments in the Bengals game got everyone's attention regarding Wright
The first moment that Wright got everyone excited about was Wright destroying Bengals defensive lineman Shemar Stewart on a block. That one got all the offensive line fans excited, but the final minute of the game had an even better Wright moment.
After Caleb Williams connected with Colston Loveland on the game-winning 58-yard touchdown with 17 seconds left in the game, Wright decided to celebrate with a cartwheel that not many offensive lineman can pull off. Johnson was also asked about it and yeah, he was impressed too.
6’5 325 pound Darnell Wright casually hitting a cartwheel during Colston Loveland’s game winning catch is absolutely insane. 😭

"I did. And I thought it was pretty awesome. Yeah, I call him a unicorn for a reason. He does some things that are pretty extraordinary."
Wright is one of the top graded offensive tackles in the NFL, according to PFF, as he ranks sixth with a grade of 82. He has the second-highest run-blocking grade among 75 qualified offensive tackles with 87.3

Chicago's offensive line has caught fire over the last month and has done a great job of boosting the team, with five wins in the previous six games. Wright is a big reason for that to happen.
