The flaws Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams showed during his rookie season are well-known. He took a league-high 68 sacks, 16 more than any other quarterback. The offensive line was not without fault for that sack total, but he also invited a fair amount of that pass rush pressure by holding the ball too long.
Beyond that, Williams also struggled with downfield accuracy throughout his rookie season. If those two things, pressure and downfield accuracy, sound familiar, it's because they continued during the Bears' Week 1 loss to the Minnesota Vikings.
One thing Williams did well as a rookie was take care of the football. Of course taking as many sacks as he did means you're probably not making many risky throws, so having the third-best interception rate in the league last season (1.1 percent; six interceptions on 562 pass attempts) comes with that caveat.
Over the final 11 games of his rookie season, Williams had just one interception on 363 pass attempts.
Bizarre Caleb Williams stat shows how backward things have been for him
History shows teams that win the turnover battle win games far more often than not. Avoiding turnovers is of course a critical part of that equation, and it starts with the quarterback.
Counting the season opener, Williams has now thrown just one interception in his last 12 games (398 pass attempts).
Of course those 12 games have been since the Bears started last season 4-2, and everything went off the rails from there.
Even knowing that, this nugget from StatMuse is bizarre and entirely against the general accepted notion that winning flows from the quarterback taking care of the ball exceptionally well.

Of course Williams' ongoing struggles to connect with his receivers downfield, and times simply throw it downfield with ideal timing and rhythm, comes with the added idea those throws might not be near anyone. Averaging one touchdown pass per game over his last 12 game is also not ideal.
According to TruMedia, courtesy of NFL analyst James Foster, Williams leads the league by a substantial margin in incompletions due to an overthrow since the start of last season.

Williams also, unsurprisingly, has the worst off-target rate among the 32 quarterbacks who played in Week 1. So his receivers couldn't reel in a number bad throws, again, and Vikings' defenders had few chances to make any plays either.
Williams' arm talent is undeniable, and rare. He isn't the first young quarterback who needs to reel that in and become a more polished passer (see Josh Allen), it'll just take more time than some people may like.

If nothing else, going 1-11 while throwing just one interception over his last 12 games just further points to how backward things have been for Williams so far in his NFL career.
