Caleb Williams among the winners of the Chicago Bears hiring Ben Johnson

The Chicago Bears finally did what the entire fan base and most of the NFL world expected by hiring Ben Johnson. The move makes sense because Johnson is one of the up-and-coming offensive minds and the Bears have been stale in that area since the first year Matt Nagy was the coach.

With a new and innovative scheme, who are the big winners on the Bears?

3. Caleb Williams is the obvious winner

The development of Caleb Williams is the most important thing in the franchise right now which is why this hire was so important. They had to hire an offensive coach so that he could grow with Williams and they had to hire someone who has proven that he can call plays and work with quarterbacks. Jared Goff was arguably better under Johnson than he was with Sean McVay. That is about all you need to say to know this hire should help Williams.

2. D.J. Moore could be in the Amon-Ra St. Brown role

When you think of Amon-Ra St. Brown you think of a player who can play inside and outside, make the tough catches over the middle, but also jump balls and big plays downfield. You think of someone who will take reverses and handoffs out of the backfield. When you read back that description you think that D.J. Moore may eat in this offense.

Johnson is excellent at putting the ball in his playmaker's hands and finding ways to get them open. When Moore starts playing his best again, all of the poor expressions on the sideline may be gone.

1. Ryan Poles saved his job for years to come

Ryan Poles was starting to feel the heat after Matt Eberflus got fired. Fans were calling for his head and rumors were that Kevin Warren was watching him like a hawk. No matter what happens, Poles drafted the top quarterback when he had the chance and hired the top coaching candidate when he had the chance. It will take more than one bad year for fans to be mad enough to get him out now. If those two have success, Poles will end up being one of the best executives in franchise history. What a turnaround.
