To be honest, Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams hasn't had a lot of moments in his NFL career where he had a chance to bring his team from behind or score on the final drive to win the game. He had that shot in Sunday's showdown with the Las Vegas Raiders, and he made the most of it.
Chicago was down 24-19 in the fourth quarter with less than seven minutes left. The ball was in Williams' hands. How would he respond with the game on the line?
Williams would complete four of five passes and run for 18 yards on the drive. The Bears only faced one third down on the drive as Williams converted three first downs on the drive himself. It all led to D'Andre Swift's game-winning touchdown with 1:34 to go in the game.
Thanks to Josh Blackwell's field goal block at the end of the game, the Bears survived a gritty game as they beat the Raiders 25-24. This was a signature moment for Williams that fans have been eagerly awaiting.
Williams showed off the clutch gene they have been waiting for
After the game, Williams talked about his late-game heroics and leading the Bears down the field for the final touchdown. He said this is a moment that he was built for.
"I think those moments that we're born for, that I'm born for. ... It's all eleven of us on the field and we've got to go do a job."
Williams finished the game, completing 22 of 37 passes for 212 yards and one touchdown with one interception. He also added 18 yards on the ground in the win. Nothing pretty, but enough to lead his team to a win.
This game was the third comeback win for Williams in his career, and that final drive was his second career game-winning drive. Even his head coach, Ben Johnson, had to give him credit for that final drive of the game.
“He came through for us in a big way,” Johnson said via Yahoo! Sports.
