Chicago Bears fans might have seen the final form of quarterback Caleb Williams, and it was truly magical to see.
The Bears took care of business against the Carolina Panthers 59-37 in Week 1 action to start the season with a 1-0 record. Everyone was talking about Williams and how he played in the contest, which has everyone buzzing.
He finished with 21 of 29 for 269 yards and two touchdown passes, but that's not all, as he also had 10 carries for 65 yards and two more scores on the ground. This is a guy who looks like he just told the NFL he's about to become the league's MVP.
Caleb Williams looked like a completely different and improved quarterback for the Bears
First off, the rushing ability Williams showed was a 180-degree turn from the 2025 season. He's always been known as more of a pocket passer who wants to throw the ball more. Still, his athleticism just looked different- but how?
His speed isn't what it was over the last two years, and he looked much quicker. Carolina was able to get some pressure on Williams, but he was fast enough to scramble out of the pocket and pick up big chunk yards. Those 10-15 pounds he lost during the offseason made him even more athletic and mobile than he already was.
The other impressive part of his game was his accuracy and decision-making. He rarely put the ball in harm's way, except for the interception inside the five-yard line in the fourth quarter that was called off after a Panthers penalty. Outside of that, his 72.4% completion percentage was one of the best of his career, showing progress in his development as a quarterback.
Despite what felt like a near-flawless game from Williams and the offense, the quarterback did open up after the win about the unit. He actually believes there's room to grow.
"That's who we want to be this week,” Williams said via The Score's Chris Emma. “(But) we got to go clean up. We want to be truthers. Obviously, this is going to be our kind of worst game. I know points don't necessarily show that, but execution, the blocking, the penalties, all these different things.
“It’s not going to be as pretty as it will be later in the year.”
If Williams actually believes there are things they need to clean up on offense, oh man. The NFL better watch out because this Bears team is going to be scary to face.
This isn't the version of Williams fans have seen often, so this is the best he's ever looked. To improve the accuracy and still making insane throws, like the deep ball completion to Rome Odunze, is just incredible to see.

Bears head coach Ben Johnson keeps preaching that he wants the best offense in NFL history. If Williams continues to look like that every week, there's no doubt this Chicago team will shatter every single league record and do it with a smile on their faces.
