Caleb Williams gave a brutally-honest assessment of Bears offense

He's not wrong.

Chicago Bears fans have endured enough to know that nothing positive ever feels normal. So, when this fan base examines the current offensive leaders across the league, on a team level, there's plenty that appears abnormal.

Even after putting up a mediocre 19 points in a win over the Minnesota Vikings, the Bears still sit as the NFL's eighth-best scoring team through 11 weeks. And, even more surprisingly, Chicago's offense ranks fourth in yards per game behind Dallas, Buffalo, and Indianapolis.

It's wild. It certainly doesn't feel like this Bears offense is a top-10 unit, and quarterback Caleb Williams tends to agree.

“We haven’t scratched the surface of how talented, how special we are on this side of the ball," he told reporters after the road win in Minnesota.

Caleb Williams said what all Bears fans have quietly been thinking

This isn't just a glance at the standings and a smirk from the fan base. Sure, we don't know what to do with ourselves as the Bears sit atop the NFC North. It isn't normal.

You know what else isn't normal?

The Bears having a quarterback you can depend on in crunch time. That's not normal.

But, it's reality.

Still, with all of Williams' late-game heroics this season and the Bears simply finding ways to win as a team, the offense feels so far off from where it could be.

Fans dreamt of the possibilities behind Ben Johnson with Williams and all of his weapons. At times, we've seen flashes of what this offense could be. We've seen flashes from Luther Burden and Colston Loveland. We've seen some big moments for Rome Odunze and, of course, we know what DJ Moore is capable of.

Shoot, the Bears currently boast the league's no. 2 overall rushing attack and it's led by D'Andre Swift.

Raise your hand if you thought Swift should have been off the roster after just one year.

I'll wait.

It's pretty impressive, honestly. The Bears' offense is a top-10 unit, and in some cases, it ranks among the top five. It does not feel that way at all, yet it's true, and they're 7-3 on the year.

The first-place Bears have a long way to go before they figure it out offensively, and that is a terrifying thought to opposing defensive coordinators who already have a hard time against the Houdini that is Williams.
