Caleb Williams came to the Chicago Bears with a multitude of goals in mind. "Football immortality" is atop his list, and along the way, he'll hope to join plenty of prestigious groups of quarterbacks.
One group that Williams is now dangerously close to entering, though, is one he'll want to avoid.
Coming up in Week 15 is the Cleveland Browns, and while on the surface they might seem like a feasible win, a victory at Soldier Field won't comeĀ thatĀ easily, not if Myles Garrett has anything to do with it.
Caleb Williams is lurking around the corner of Myles Garrett's graveyard
Obviously, the Bears are hoping he escapes falling victim.
Since entering the league as the first overall pick back in 2017, Garrett has now taken down a total of 51 different quarterbacks via sack. He has relished the idea of having his own graveyard, in fact, so this isn't just some silly label.
He takes it seriously; so seriously, in fact, that he decorates with an actual graveyard each Halloween.
Garrett enters the game against Williams and the Bears, needing just three more sacks to break the single-season sack record of 22.5, shared by both Michael Strahan and T.J. Watt. Ideally, he doesn't break it this weekend.
But, he will indeed break it this year. There's no doubt about it.
As for Williams and how he fits into all of this, he's been one of the best at escaping pressure this season. Taking just 20 sacks in 13 games, this year, he has done a phenomenal job acting as what many have now coined the nickname "Houdini" in the pocket.
Williams has even finished a game without being sacked in two games this year, while he's been sacked just once in five games. He's only been sacked more than twice in a game on two occasions this year, taking three against the Washington Commanders and four against the Detroit Lions, both contests coming much earlier in the year.
After leading the NFL in times sacked as a rookie with a staggering 68, Williams is now looking to cut that number far more than just in half. It's been an impressive and, quite frankly, surprising part of his game in Year 2.
But it's also what's allowed this Bears offense to be one of the league's top 10 units. He may have some work to do in certain areas, but Williams' progression has been evident this season.

Hopefully, his escapability is at its best this Sunday against the league's most-feared sack artist.
