Caleb Williams just said what all of his critics are terrified to confess

They won't admit it, but it's true.

The critics will continue chirping until they cannot chirp any longer, and in a season where the Chicago Bears are now 10-4, we're still hearing plenty of doubt when it comes to quarterback Caleb Williams.

Some people will point to things like his completion percentage or advanced stats like EPA, but when you watch Williams make throws as he did against the Cleveland Browns' No. 1-ranked pass defense last week, all of the numbers go out the window.

Early this week when speaking to the Bears media, Williams had something blunt and 100 percent true to say about his own performance against Cleveland:

"If I play like how I played last game or play better, we have a real shot to do whatever we want in this league."

You could say, Williams just said the quiet part out loud.

Caleb Williams knows the Bears are borderline-unstoppable when he's at his best

OK, so "borderline-unstoppable" might be a bit of a stretch. But, come on! He played lights-out against the best pass defense in football.

And, he made what might end up being the throw of the year on his miraculously-perfect touchdown toss to D.J. Moore. That throw has had everybody talking, and for good reason.

Almost any other quarterback makes that throw, and it's picked off or even floated a bit high for a throwaway. Williams' release of that football made every single Bears fan watching collectively hold their breath, all while thinking it was a sure pick.

But, it wasn't. Instead, it was a pristinely-placed pass that resulted in a score which blew the game open for the Bears.

If Williams plays like that against the league's better defenses, then he's darn right these Bears can do whatever they want. He's a quarterback playing for a team whose defense is leading the league in takeaways, whose offense has an established, consistent run game, and whose head coach has finally helped change the culture.

What more could you ask for, given the current roster and circumstances?

Williams was always a star in the making, whether or not everyone wanted to admit that. He's always had star qualities. He's always been able to make every throw in the book.

Critics will point to consistency, and to an extent, they're right. But, we're not even fully through Year 2.

Buckle up. It's going to get even harder for said critics to have legs to stand on.
