Chicago Bears fans are counting down the days until Caleb Williams returns to the field, and it might be less than a week now.

Williams injured his hamstring during the Week 2 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. The Bears have been cautious with him since then, and he has been sidelined for almost three weeks from games and practice.

"Almost" is the key word because Williams practiced for the first time on Friday and was listed as limited. The injury report also listed him as questionable for the Week 5 game against the Green Bay Packers, even though Bears head coach Ben Johnson had already ruled him out and named Tyson Bagent the starter. The Packers showdown, though, could be the last for Williams ' misses.

Caleb Williams is close to returning for Bears with Week 6 being the target point

NFL insider Mike Garafolo gave a great update regarding Williams' recovery and what it is looking like. It appears that the Week 6 Atlanta Falcons game could be the end of the timeline for Williams to be back on the field.

"For next week, because this is Williams starting to work his way back and pushing to play next week. That's what I am told by multiple sources here the team is going to see how he does through the course of the week, so we really don't know how this is going to go. But this is Williams trying to get back right on the timeline. We thought about three to four weeks potentially for him with that grade 2 hamstring strain. So let's see how this week goes. But yes, it is him, so take your memes, take your videos, which are hilarious by the way, and enjoy them for now because he could be back on the field in short order."

In two games, Williams has thrown for 407 yards and two touchdowns, with one interception. He also added 107 rushing yards and two touchdowns. His QBR of 85.2 is currently second in the NFL.

Pro Football Focus gave Williams an overall grade of 63.9, ranking 21st out of 33 eligible quarterbacks. He earned a 61.4 passing grade (22nd) and a 67.7 rushing grade (12th out of 28 quarterbacks).

The Bears' biggest concern right now is whether Williams can be the same quarterback return tohe was before the injury. He showed how much faster he was this season than last. Williams likes to use his legs to escape the pocket and create opportunities for receivers to get open or for him to run for it.

If Williams can't do that, there's no point in putting him on the field. What makes him so great is his ability to use his athleticism to make incredible throws on the run. He can't be a pocket passer, as he works better when scrambling.

Chicago will need to be cautious with what they do to avoid aggravating Williams' injury, and they have done a good job so far. Watch for what the Bears do in practice for Week 6 to ease Williams back in.
