Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams has ascended to one of the best signal callers in the NFL.
Because he is so young, there are few quarterbacks that you would rather build a franchise around. Given the quarterback's importance, it is easy to see Williams as one of the most valuable players in the league. But just how untradable is he?
Mike Kadlick of Sports Illustrated went through a list of players who are truly untradeable. These players would not even warrant a phone call, as it would be pointless. This is a small list, and some players who did not make the cut include Joe Burrow, Lamar Jackson, Ja’Marr Chase, Myles Garrett, Justin Jefferson, and Jaxon Smith-Njigba.Â
How valuable is Caleb Williams in a trade?
So, as Kadlick currently has it, the untradable NFL players are Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, Jayden Daniels, Drake Maye, Bo Nix, and Caleb Williams. He also notes that Matthew Stafford, Cameron Heyward, and Travis Kelce would retire before a trade, which is fair to add. Still, there are six players that are not even worth a phone call, and the Bears have one of them. That has never happened before.Â
It is interesting to note that there are four quarterbacks from the same draft class, and two elite quarterbacks, Mahomes and Allen. Mahomes and Allen are in contention for MVP every year, and Allen has enough playoff success to warrant being a touch ahead of Jackson and Burrow.Â
The draw for Williams, Maye, Nix, and Daniels is their age and contract. All of them are a team-friendly deal for at least the next two years and potentially the next three. Even when their contracts do get bigger, we have already seen all three of them make enough plays in the playoffs that teams would still trade anything for them, even to pay them a hefty salary.Â

So, the order of Daniels or Maye ahead of Williams really does not matter. The Bears would never trade Williams, the Patriots would never trade Maye, and the Commanders would never trade Daniels. All teams are happy with their choices right now.
