The Chicago Bears made a lot of interesting selections in the 2026 NFL Draft, but a Day 3 pick might be the one that causes the most havoc at a position.
Chicago selected Texas cornerback Malik Muhammad in the fourth round of the draft, leaving the possibility open for him to take two starting jobs away from either Tyrique Stevenson at CB2 or Kyler Gordon at nickel. FanSided's Wynston Wilcox warns Gordon that he might be the man on the most shaky ground with the Bears.
"Kyler Gordon has been decimated by injuries, playing in just three games last year. The Bears drafted Malik Muhammad out of Texas and he could very well be a player that replaces Gordon sooner rather than later. The Bears are deep at cornerback, but if Gordon proves to be unreliable again this year, I could very well see him ending the year with a new team."
Kyler Gordon might lose his job to Malik Muhammad in 2026
This is an interesting take, as most believe it's Stevenson that is on shakier ground in Chicago. Muhammad might be competing more with Stevenson for the CB2 job, especially after Stevenson was benched for Nahshon Wright by the end of the 2025 season.
Gordon has his injury issues, but when he is healthy, he's a top 10 nickel corner in the NFL. Only playing in three last year was rough, and Bears fans hope he can stay on the field longer this upcoming season.
Muhammad appears to be a good talent who might surprise people and start right away, but the Bears would envision him more as an outside corner than playing in the nickel. Gordon is too good just to give up on after one year with injuries.

The Bears' secondary will be fascinating to watch in training camp to see how it all unfolds, but one thing is for sure: some of the veterans on the group will have to play better to keep their jobs.
