Chicago Bears defensive coordinator Dennis Allen is getting a lot of attention from his franchise this offseason as they try to give him new weapons for his defense, which finished in the bottom 10 in total defense.
So far, the Bears have added new starters like safety Coby Bryant and linebacker Devin Bush. While there have been other additions, none have come from the secondary outside of Bryant, as they lost four starters to free agency.
NFL reporter Ryan Fowler might have someone of interest for the Bears fan base, as the latest report is that the team is hosting Miami Hurricanes defensive back Keionte Scott on a 30-visit with about a week before the defense occurs. Scott was a second-team All-ACC selection last year as he racked up 64 tackles, five pass deflections, five sacks, two interceptions, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and two touchdowns.
Bears are hosting Keionte Scott that would make massive impact on defense
The possibilities are endless with what Allen could do with Scott in the secondary. While Scott might be a bit undersized to have in the box, he is the perfect blitzing cornerback to come off the edge and sack the quarterback while making stellar plays in pass coverage.
Scott leaves the door open for the Bears to easily move Kyler Gordon from nickel to safety and let Scott go into the slot. That would easily solve the concerns of not having Jaquan Brisker and Kevin Byard back there.
Another interesting thing to keep in mind with Scott is that he could be used on special teams as well. He was a returner at Auburn before playing at Miami last year, and in 2023, he returned a punt for a touchdown.

Chicago's biggest concern is how they will replace all the top defenders they lost in the secondary, which doesn't even include Nahshon Wright and C.J. Gardner-Johnson. Scott might be a perfect replacement who can do a little bit of everything for the team.
