Everyone has been excited to see the working relationship between Chicago Bears head coach Ben Johnson and his quarterback Caleb Williams.

It seems to be paying off so far with the Bears being 11-4 and Caleb Williams already surpassing his touchdown total from his rookie season. Williams mentioned at the beginning of the week that when he first started working with Johnson, the franchise quarterback thought his head coach didn't like him. Johnson followed up that response by sharing what it was like at the beginning and why Williams might have felt that way.

"I would say a lot of my closest friends would probably tell you the same thing. I think of a guy that was in my wedding, one of my best men was Drew Petzing, the coordinator for Arizona. I think he would tell you the first two months that we were together at Boston College, we didn't say a whole lot to each other. That's just kind of how it is sometimes.

"I treat Caleb like I do the rest of the guys. I love all these guys. Comes from a good place, I just want them to become the best player they can be and grow as men as well."

Williams and Johnson seem to be hitting it off now

Bears fans have to think that Williams and Johnson are in a good place now, given how the play has been on the field. Besides the Bears' success in 2025, Williams has shown significant growth and is proving he is taking in the coaching well.

This season, Williams has thrown for 3,400 yards and 23 touchdowns to six interceptions, adding another three scores on the ground. From his decision-making to the incredible throws Williams is making, including that 46-yard game-winning touchdown to DJ Moore to win in Week 16 against the Green Bay Packers, the young second-year signal caller is getting better.

Johnson has started throwing more to Williams' plate in the past month, which has resulted in some inaccurate throws. They are still working through that, as Williams has been maturing more and more as the year has gone on.

While there are still two weeks in the regular season, the Bears are starting to look more and more like a Super Bowl-contending team and will be for a long time at the rate that Johnson and Williams are going.
