There are just a handful of quarterbacks in NFL history who have accomplished what Caleb Williams did in the Chicago Bears’ 31-27 win over the Green Bay Packers in the first round of the playoffs.
According to NFL on CBS, Williams is one of five quarterbacks to throw for two passing touchdowns while trailing in the fourth quarter of a playoff win in the last 20 years.
The Bears’ quarterback joins Matthew Stafford, who also accomplished those statistics last Saturday in the Los Angeles Rams’ 34-31 win over the Carolina Panthers, Patrick Mahomes (Super Bowl LIV), Tom Brady (2017 AFC Championship, Super Bowl XLIX), and Eli Manning (Super Bowl XLII).
Caleb Williams is certainly in elite company with some of the best ever
To help the Bears complete the comeback victory over the Packers after being down 21-3 at the half, Williams and the offense scored on five of their six drives in the second half, including 25 points in the fourth quarter.
Williams’ first touchdown pass in the fourth quarter occurred with his team down 27-16 and 4:18 left on the clock. The offense completed a 10-play, 76-yard drive with Williams completing an eight-yard pass to Olamide Zaccheaus for the touchdown. That score wouldn’t have happened if Williams hadn’t completed a 27-yard pass to Rome Odunze on fourth-and-eight.
Chicago Bears head coach Ben Johnson elected to go for two following Zaccheaus’ touchdown, and Colston Loveland secured the two-point conversion to make it a three-point game.
After Packers kicker Brandon McManus missed a 44-yard field goal attempt, Williams led his team down the field on a six-play, 66-yard drive for the game-deciding score. The Bears’ quarterback completed three of five passes on the drive, including a 23-yard pickup to D’Andre Swift and then the 25-yard touchdown to DJ Moore on a fake screen.
It’s a one-game sample size, but Williams has already put himself among some of the best quarterbacks to ever play in the game with his fourth-quarter heroics.
In the Divisional Round, Williams will go up against someone that he grew up idolizing in Stafford, who is also more than capable of leading his team to a comeback if his Rams are down.

Considering how the 2025 Chicago Bears season has played out, there might need to be some more fourth-quarter magic to help the Bears take down one of the most complete teams in the NFL.
