Chicago Bears offensive coordinator Declan Doyle took to the podium to address the media alongside the other Bears coordinators. With the Bears on the brink of facing the Rams, the press conference is taking place before the NFC Divisional Round night match.

When the topic of Colston Loveland was raised, Doyle had only compliments for the young tight end. Colston Loveland has quickly become an essential part of the Bears' offense, a unit that has earned more yards than any other team in the playoffs so far. Loveland played a massive part in the win against the Packers, and he's sure to be a large part of the scheme.

“He has really maintained the same type of temperament in the building, just the process. His growth is just a byproduct of that. I think the more that he plays, the more confidence he has.”

Consistency Driving Growth

Doyle mentions the building's temperament and how Loveland has benefited from it. The process that head coach Ben Johnson has brought to the Bears' facilities has been more than evident across every aspect of the game. It only tracks that a rookie tight end with Loveland's size and ability would thrive here.

Loveland started the season with many question marks around him, but looking at the stat sheet, it's clear the Bears understood what they had. Loveland's steady increase in usage across the season shows a clear mark of trust and growth.

“He’s obviously far from a rookie now. This is gonna be, I think this is our 22nd game or something like that, but he is an NFL player, he’s an NFL tight end, and he’s proven that he can be really good in big moments.”

Loveland was electric against the Packers last week, logging a career high 137 receiving yards and eight receptions. He was targeted more than anyone on the Bears, and his reliability draws the attention of every defensive coordinator in the league. He's carved an essential role in the Bears' offense this year. Loveland, paired with veteran Kmet, has created a tight end combo the Bears can be proud of.

Doyle's comments make it clear that Loveland's emergence is not a surprise inside the building. His consistency, preparation, and ability to deliver in meaningful moments have shifted how he is viewed and how he's used. At this point, Loveland is no longer developing into the Bears' offense. He's firmly a part of it.
