When Chicago Bears head coach Ben Johnson steps onto the field, there is something different in his eyes that makes everyone believe he's deep in the zone.
The drive Johnson has to win can't be matched by anyone in the NFL, as his intensity highlights the core difference between him and past Bears head coaches like Matt Nagy and Matt Eberflus. Bears defensive backs coach Al Harris opened up to the media about what Johnson is like on game day and what makes him different from everyone else.
"The offensive guys that I have been around have all just been trained killers, and Ben is, man, he's a trained killer," Harris said via Bear Report. "He will cut your throat out. I'm telling you, he's a different guy on Sunday in a good way."
Ben Johnson is just different on the day it matters
Johnson proved that his approach is the key to winning games, as his Bears went 11-6, won the NFC North, and beat the Green Bay Packers in the NFC Wild Card Game. The culture has shown a complete 180-degree shift from where it was in the past.
Now entering the 2026 season, everyone in the NFL has bought into what Johnson has built in Chicago, and the Bears roll into the year as not only a playoff contender, but a Super Bowl could be within view. Johnson is a big reason for that, as he has helped develop so many young superstars on this team, including Caleb Williams, Kyle Monangai, Rome Odunze, Luther Burden, Colston Loveland, and more.

Even if the Bears are a year or two away from a Super Bowl title, this franchise will remain competitive for a long time thanks to what Johnson has built with his own hands.
