The edge rusher room is a sensitive topic for the Chicago Bears fan base, as they wanted the team to make a move there, but the team has done nothing.
There are still about three months left for the Bears to change their minds and bring in an edge rusher either in free agency or via trade. Bleacher Report writer Kristopher Knox joined Bears fans in wanting the team to add an edge rusher with what is remaining in the offseason.
"The Chicago Bears have worked to overhaul their defense this season, signing players like Devin Bush and Coby Bryant before drafting safety Dillon Thieneman. However, Chicago hasn't yet addressed a pass rush that produced just 35 sacks in 2025. The Bears have one solid edge-rusher in Montez Sweat, who recorded 10 of those 35 sacks last season. Adding a standout like Joey Bosa, Von Miller, or Leonard Floyd to complement Sweat would make plenty of sense."
Will the Bears actually do something with the edge rusher position?
The Bears seem very content with what they have on the roster with Montez Sweat, Austin Booker, and Dayo Odeyingbo. Sweat isn't the concern after posting 10 sacks last season and proving to be the top pass rusher on the team.
One real question is whether Booker will explode in Year 3 or take a setback. He has improved over the last two years, recording 4.5 sacks last season despite playing only half the season.
Odeyingbo missed the second half of the season, but only had one sack on the year. His play must improve, and it is a concern going into the 2026 season.
Bosa would be a dominant force who has played in the league for a long time, but has struggled to stay healthy. Miller, despite being towards the end of his NFL career, still racked up nine sacks with the Washington Commanders last season. Floyd is familiar with Chicago from playing with the Bears in the past and could be a great rotational player.

Bears general manager Ryan Poles seems content with his pass rushers right now, but if he leaves it as is and they struggle again, the fan base will make their feelings known very quickly.
