Coming out of Division II Shepherd University as an undrafted free agent, and now heading toward his fourth NFL season with a solid contract extension in hand, Chicago Bears quarterback Tyson Bagent is already a success story.

Bagent is highly valued by the Bears, as made clear by comments from general manager Ryan Poles and head coach Ben Johnson during the 2025 preseason, before news of the contract extension broke.

As trade rumors surfaced around Bagent earlier this offseason, Johnson made it clear how he feels about his No. 2 quarterback. While things could change, it's pretty clear Bagent will remain a Bear in 2026.

For his part, earlier in the offseason, Bagent said the trade talk about him was a surprise when he was told of it. He has also noticed the way Johnson and Poles talk about him, and is, of course, appreciative of that sentiment.

Tyson Bagent's overall attitude about trade rumors is exactly what Bears' fans want to hear

Bagent recently made an appearance on ESPN 1000's "Waddle and Silvy", talking generally about the Bears' outlook and expectations for 2026. Of course, he was asked if he had heard the trade rumors attached to his name this offseason, and his response was perfect.

"The most that would happen is that people would just ask me ridiculous questions, just out and about if I saw them", Bagent said..."Like I said, they're not gonna talk to me about it until a deal's done. So there's really no sense in me wondering, worrying or anything like that. As far as I'm concerned, it's been nothing except the Chicago Bears since I got here."

"So whatever that next step is, we'll be ready. But it's also cool, to hear that there's rumors going on, whether they're true or not. All noise is good noise. So I thought it was neat, but still just (with a gesture suggesting laser-focus) in our lane--Chicago Bears."

As could be expected from someone whose father is an arm-wrestling champion with a sneaky, professional-wrestler-esque microphone presence, Bagent isn't going to pay much mind to the noise of trade rumors. If things get serious in terms of an offer that's being considered, which broadly feels unlikely based on how much he is valued, he knows he'll know about it.

In the meantime, and until further notice, Bagent will remain strictly focused on being the best he can be for the Bears.
