Many fans in the Windy City are nervous about the Chicago Bears' injury issues.
The Bears saw wide receiver Luther Burden III go down with a groin injury over the weekend. Burden is expected to be out for a month, but could be back for the Bears' Week 1 game against the Carolina Panthers.
On Sunday, the Bears once again saw another wide receiver get hurt with rookie third-round pick Zavion Thomas. It was a blow the team could not afford to have with so many guys out, but this time, they might be in the clear.
Bears get an update on Zavion Thomas' injury in training camp
ESPN Bears reporter Courtney Cronin shared an update on Thomas and his injury. Cronin delivered some much-needed good news about the rookie.
"Some positive news on the Bears wide receiver front. Zavion Thomas, who left practice Sunday during 7 on 7 with a knee injury, isn't expected to miss much time, per a source. I'm told he's dealing with soreness in his knee and is likely day-to-day in his recovery. He shouldn't be out long."
Finally. Some good news Bears fans desperately needed to hear. It appears that Thomas escaped with a not-so-serious injury.
Still, it raises the concern that Thomas is now going to miss some valuable reps he could use as a rookie. With Burden out, it could have been the perfect opportunity for Thomas to step in and prove that he's ready to play a bigger role in the offense this year.
Instead, more pressure will be on Rome Odunze and Kalif Raymond to carry the load at the wide receive. Jahdae Walker is getting his chance to move into the starting lineup and get some playing time after being last year's training camp darling as an undrafted rookie.
Eventually, when Thomas is back on the field, the Bears fan base will be able to see the 4.28 speed in action. He may not play a massive role on offense, but Thomas could see time on special teams as a returner. If Burden can't play in Week 1, that might get Thomas on the field more often than expected.

It appears the Bears' injury woes might be more about quantity, but they won't affect too much of the season for them. Once Thomas and Burden are back on the field, this offense will be back in shape to work towards completing a Super Bowl run in 2026.
