The Chicago Bears might have an office open in the building soon, according to the latest update on how one of their employees is interviewing.

Multiple reporters have shared that Bears assistant general manager Ian Cunningham will be getting a second interview with the Atlanta Falcons for their general manager opening. Cunningham has been considered a favorite to land the job in Atlanta.

One big reason for that is the Falcons' new president of football operations, Matt Ryan, who has a prior relationship with Bears general manager Ryan Poles. Ryan and Poles were teammates at Boston College and have been in contact about his new role in Atlanta.

Ian Cunningham is one step closer to being a general manager

Cunningham has moved up quickly in the NFL front office, and he has done a great job wherever he has been.

He was a personnel assistant and scout for the Baltimore Ravens from 2008 through 2016, before taking the director of college scouting job with the Philadelphia Eagles. Cunningham again moved up quickly in five years with the Eagles, becoming director of player personnel by the time he left for Chicago.

Throughout the last four years with the Bears as the assistant general manager, Cunningham has been Poles' right-hand man in helping construct this roster. Some of the big moves the pair has made include getting DJ Moore, Caleb Williams, and Rome Odunze in 2024, while going to work in 2025 with three new starting offensive linemen and a draft filled with starters.

Cunningham deserves a lot of credit for the work he has done with the Bears and for his assistance in rebuilding the roster. Now he has a chance to try to win the Falcons' general manager job and show them what he learned in Chicago.
