Chicago Bears defensive coordinator Dennis Allen is certainly going to be feeling the pain of all the injuries the team suffered on Day 8 of training camp.

The Bears already entered the day without key players like Kyler Gordon, Elijah Hicks, and Coby Bryant. Running back Kyle Monangai is working his way back from a soft-tissue injury.

Well, go ahead and add four more names to the list. Edge rusher Montez Sweat and projected starting left tackle Braxton Jones both left the practice and did not return, but Jones' injury is not expected to be serious. There were two serious injuries in the secondary: defensive backs Dallis Flowers and Gervarrius Owens.

Bears are in deep trouble with their depth after four injuries in camp

The Jones update sounds good, which is a relief to Bears fans after already dealing with Ozzy Trapilo being out. Chicago will have to roll with Kiran Amegadjie and Jedrick Wills Jr. until more is said about Jones.

There hasn't been an update on Sweat, but the hope is that since he walked off on his own power, it's a good sign. Chicago can't afford to lose their top pass rusher, so they should be cautious with him since he already missed time in camp with an illness. Dayo Odeyingbo and Austin Booker are the next guys up at edge rusher.

While Flowers and Owens are not starters, what a massive blow for the secondary. More depth players are gone, which is a big problem for Allen to deal with. He and defensive backs coach Al Harris might have to go back to the drawing board on what to do about the secondary.

If their injuries are as serious as the Bears reporters have made them out to be, expect general manager Ryan Poles to be back at work to add more defensive backs. They already have a starting nickel and safety to replace in the lineup, so the hope is that it'll be all it can be for the Bears.

This feels like deja vu for the Bears after what happened last year. They dealt with all kinds of injuries, including Jaylon Johnson and Gordon missing significant time.

Chicago just needs to hope the updates on all four guys are good news and nothing else happens. The Bears can't take bumps and bruises on that defense anymore.
