Chicago Bears fans have been on the edge of their seats to know what is going on with wide receiver Luther Burden III.
At practice on Saturday, Burden and cornerback Tyrique Stevenson were going at it on a one-on-one drill in training camp, and both got hurt. Burden ended up leaving practice without a clear update on the injury,
NFL insider Ian Rapoport is the man to deliver that update Bears fans need to hear. A source told Rapoport that Burden is dealing with a groin injury and is expected to "miss a little bit of time."
Luther Burden is going to miss some time with the Bears
This doesn't exactly clear things up, but it is early in the process, so a lot can change over the next few days. It's not the update Bears fans wanted to hear, but it also doesn't sound like he'll be gone for long.
Last year in his rookie season, Burden went for 652 yards and two touchdowns. While it was a slow start for him, Burden performed well late in the season when Rome Odunze was out with a foot injury.
The hype has been loud throughout the offseason for Burden, as many are expecting him to have a breakout season. His speed is there, and he's only getting better as a receiver with his hands and route running.
This is such an unfortunate time for Burden to be gone. It will put more pressure on the rest of the wide receiver room to step up while he is gone.
Kalif Raymond could move up as the WR2. Watch for Jahdae Walker and rookie Zavion Thomas to also play bigger roles on offense. Either Walker or Raymond could move to the outside, and it might open the door for Thomas to get more reps in the slot.
Watch for tight end Colston Loveland to get even more targets in the passing game to take the pressure off of Odunze. Loveland and Odunze were two of Caleb Williams' more targeted players on offense last year.

The Bears' injury woes continue to damage all the momentum the team has when it comes to the talent they have in training camp. They can only hope this is the end of all the injuries and that the rest of the players can focus on either getting healthy or staying healthy.
