As the Chicago Bears head into their Week 8 game against the Washington Commanders, the biggest question will be the depth of the team's secondary.
That has been the story of the Bears' inactive for their past two games. Against the Jacksonville Jaguars game in London, the Bears entered the game without starting safety Jaquan Brisker and starting cornerback Tyrique Stevenson. During their victory against the Jaguars, Kyler Gordon went down with a hamstring injury. While Stevenson is back for the Bears and their game against the Commanders, Brisker and Gordon will be inactive.

Key Absences and Their Impact
Offensive Impact
- With Nate Davis inactive for the second consecutive game, that seems to be the confirmation that he has played his final game in a Bears uniform. With Larry Borom healthy and activated off IR on Saturday, Davis seemingly continues to fall down the offensive line depth chart. That freefall will likely continue in the coming weeks when Ryan Bates gets healthier. With the NFL Trade Deadline one week from Tuesday, Davis seems to be headed toward being off the Bears' roster. Though, considering it's clear that the Bears have no intention of playing the veteran, teams across the NFL may just wait for the Bears to cut Davis.
Defensive Impact
- Despite the injuries to Brisker, Gordon, and Stevenson, the Bears' secondary drew praise for how they played against the Jaguars in London. The one caveat to that is that Jaguars' quarterback Trevor Lawrence had four presumed touchdown passes dropped. The Commanders, especially with Jayden Daniels expected to play, are a step up in class for the Bears' secondary.
Special Teams Impact
- Cole Kmet's days of being the Bears' long snapper are seemingly over. Scott Daly is healthy and will return to his long-snapping role on Sunday.
