The momentum behind Thomas Brown's candidacy to be the permanent head coach of the Chicago Bears has cooled considerably since when he was first named the team's interim head coach following the firing of Matt Eberflus on Black Friday.

The Bears have yet to win a game during Brown's interim run, signaling the end of any legitimate chance he has at being the head coach moving forward into next season.

While speaking with reporters on Wednesday at Halas Hall, Brown confirmed that he had no interview scheduled but it is likely a bridge to be crossed following the Bears' game against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday.

Brad Biggs confirmed that Brown is expected to interview for the position but isn't expected to be the hire. Instead, Biggs, during his Thursday hit on 670 The Score, indicated the true reason why the Bears will want to still interview Brown.

Learning about the locker room needs to be the top priority for the Chicago Bears front office in the immediate aftermath of the season. The fact remains that Bears' general manager Ryan Poles did not have a feel for the locker room when the decisions were made to bring Matt Eberflus back for a third season as the team's head coach and hire Shane Waldron as the team's offensive coordinator.

Eberflus had no control over the Bears' locker room, resulting in Jaylon Johnson's reaction in the locker room on Thanksgiving being the defining moment of confirmation for how poor the coaching staff decisions were this offseason. Waldron, in the reporting in the aftermath of his hiring, appears to have never been on the same page as the players he was coaching.

Again, the fact Poles, entering his fourth offseason as the Bears' general manager, still has to "learn the locker room" is even more reason for why he should be fired at the end of the season.
