There was optimism and excitement with the Chicago Bears fan base that they would finally see their 2025 draft pick, Zah Frazier, take the field in 2026 and potentially compete for playing time.

In stunning fashion, that is no longer the case. The Bears announced that they have waived Frazier from the team right before the team hosts the rookie minicamp.

Frazier was selected in the fifth round of the draft out of UTSA. He ended up not playing at all last year and sat out the season due to a non-injury concern.

Bears fans liked what they saw from Frazier in college, and he had the potential to be good in the pros. He was strong in coverage and fit the playmaker style that Bears defensive coordinator Dennis Allen likes in his corners.

There is obviously more to the story that Frazier hasn't shared with the world yet, but for the Bears to pull the plug on him already means something serious is going on. Of course, it's Frazier's story to tell, and it would be inappropriate to speculate, but Bears fans just hope everything is okay with the young man.

As for what this means for the Bears moving forward in the secondary, more pressure will be put on 2026 fourth-round pick Malik Muhammad to be as good as advertised. Many believe that Muhammad will be competing with Tyrique Stevenson for the starting CB2 job and could push hard to win the role.

It's a shame that Bears fans were not able to see Frazier on the field in a Bears uniform to showcase his true potential, but everyone hopes that he is doing well and living his best life while the franchise moves on to find his replacement on the roster.
