Another player will make the list of "former Chicago Bears players" after signing elsewhere.
NFL insider Mike Garafolo reported that safety and special teamer Jonathan Owens has agreed to a one-year contract with the Indianapolis Colts. Owens played the last two seasons with the Bears after also playing for the Green Bay Packers for one season and the Houston Texans for his first four years in the league.
Last year with the Bears, Owens racked up 19 tackles in 17 games. He started five of the 17 games he played in during the 2024 season. Owens is best known for his marriage to Olympic gold-medal gymnast Simone Biles.

The loss of Owens now makes it five defensive backs who have left the team and signed elsewhere in the offseason. That list includes Owens, Kevin Byard (New England Patriots), Nahshon Wright (New York Jets), Jaquan Brisker (Pittsburgh Steelers), and C.J. Gardner-Johnson (Buffalo Bills).
It came as no surprise that Owens was the latest to depart, as it appears the secondary might look very different for the Bears, as they already signed safety Coby Bryant to start at one of the safety positions. Most likely, the other safety position gets filled by a rookie in the 2026 NFL Draft.
The good news is that they have the cornerback position pretty well in hand with Jaylon Johnson and Tyrique Stevenson on the outside and Kyler Gordon in the slot. Now it's all about making sure everyone can stay healthy, unlike last season, when Johnson and Gordon both missed more than half the season with injuries.

Don't expect Owens to be the last player from the 2025 roster to find a new home, as the Bears are going in a different direction with certain parts of the team.
