Things are starting to get more interesting with the Chicago Bears after the franchise completed their rookie minicamp.
ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter reported that the Bears signed veteran wide receiver Scotty Miller to a contract. Miller was one of the five veterans at the rookie minicamp, trying out for the football team.
The seven-year veteran has played for three NFL teams since the Tampa Bay Buccaneers selected him in the sixth round of the 2019 NFL Draft. Miller has caught 99 passes for 1,216 yards and six touchdowns in 93 games.
Scotty Miller might have a shot at making the Bears' 53-man roster for one reason
While some may not expect Miller to make the 53-man roster, he might have a better chance than Bears fans would think. Bears head coach Ben Johnson called Miller "intriguing" during rookie minicamp, and the veteran receiver has a past connection with wide receiver coach Antwaan Randle El from their time together in Tampa.
Chicago is looking for a true WR3 after the departure of DJ Moore via trade this offseason. Rome Odunze and Luther Burden III are the clear-cut top two receivers, but behind them are Kalif Raymond, Jahdae Walker, and rookie third-round pick Zavion Thomas.
Miller will still have an uphill battle, as Raymond and Walker will have the advantage because they know Johnson's system. There have been talks of Thomas potentially playing running back, so if that happens, there's a strong chance the door might swing wide open for Miller to make the roster.

Bears' minicamp will get underway soon, and that will be the first indicator of what the fan base can expect over the next few months leading up to the 2026 season. Miller shouldn't be slept on, though, as he has been a solid slot receiver for a long time this year and could make some noise early.
