There were a lot of people who were skeptical of Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams and his ability to play the position in the NFL.

The 2025 campaign certainly silenced a lot of those doubters as Williams, week after week, is making spectacular passes for the Bears. It has gotten the attention of NFL analyst Greg Cosell, who appeared on the Ross Tucker Podcast to share his blunt thoughts on Williams.

"I know I said to the guys in the matchup room I said, 'You know, Caleb Williams is going to be really good.' I mean this mix of Williams traits and the Ben Johnson's offense, it's going to be fun to watch as it continues to develop Ross. Because Ben Johnson is a master at creating spacing in his route concepts which really helps to find things for the quarterback. It allows him more often than not to throw to that primary read because the spacing is so good against zone coverage and you're dealing with a guy that is truly a high level talent. I mean that touchdown he threw to Luther Burden last week, Luther Burden was not even the primary on that play because it was part of their dagger concept and you rarely throw it vertical clear route on a dagger and Burden saw that he was going to be free and threw up his arm and Williams under duress and just kind of sat there on his back foot leaning back and threw the ball 50 yards in the air like you and I were having a catch in the backyard."

Everyone is buying stock in Caleb Williams' NFL career

Last year was a wash for Williams, as it was his rookie year and he was on a different coaching staff. No one really wanted to judge him from that.

Things have changed significantly in 2025 under Johnson as head coach, as Williams is shattering his 2024 numbers. He has thrown for 3,730 yards and 25 touchdowns to six interceptions. Williams is less than 110 yards away from the franchise's passing record and 270 away from being the first Bears QB to throw for over 4,000 yards in a year.

Everyone has been gushing over the throws that Williams has been making from his DJ Moore touchdown in the win over the Cleveland Browns to his other Moore touchdown to beat the Green Bay Packers in Week 16.

While his accuracy leaves a lot to be desired, Williams is looking more and more like the franchise quarterback for the Bears for a long time, and soon will have everyone believing in him.
