This is such an unusual spot for the Chicago Bears, but their quarterback position is in a really good spot.
Bears star QB Caleb Williams has been everything as advertised coming out of college; in just two years, he has helped make this franchise a juggernaut, with a lot of help from new head coach Ben Johnson. Bleacher Report writer Alex Ballentine shared the panic meter for each NFL team at quarterback, and Bears fans don't have much to worry about there with Williams, Tyson Bagent, and Case Keenum, as it is a one.
"Caleb Williams faced a lot of scrutiny as a No. 1 overall pick after his first season. It didn't help that Jayden Daniels' incredible rookie season shifted the goalposts a bit. The 24-year-old put to bed any concerns after his second season. Hiring Ben Johnson and adding real veteran bite to the offensive line were key factors, but Williams took a huge step forward in his sophomore campaign. Being paired with Johnson helped Williams hone in his game a bit, cutting down on sacks taken (from 68 in 2024 to 24 in 2025) and putting him in a better position to operate the offense.
Now that the Bears have found the perfect match between head coach and quarterback they get to experience something they've rarely felt about the quarterback position: Peace."
Bears have lowest number on panic meter
Williams is coming off a great season in which he threw for a franchise-record 3,942 yards, 27 touchdowns, and seven interceptions. He also completed the most comebacks and game-winning drives in NFL history, with seven between the regular season and playoffs.
Bagent and Keenum give the team comfort at backup quarterback with their successful NFL career. Keenum led the Minnesota Vikings to an NFC Championship game less than a decade ago, so he's got the experience needed. As for Bagent, he's been with the team for the last three years and has won games for them.
Johnson deserves a ton of credit for the job he has done with the quarterbacks, in particular, Williams. Williams' confidence in himself now comes from Johnson coaching him hard and helping him become the best version of himself for 2025.

Going into Year 2, Williams will only get better, and Johnson will be a big reason for that progression in 2026.
