What a dominating performance for the Chicago Bears in their preseason debut, blowing out the Cleveland Browns 34-10.
It was the offense that stole the show for the Bears, racking up 430 yards of total offense in the win. Chicago found success through the air, passing for 348 yards between quarterbacks Tyson Bagent, Case Keenum, and Miller Moss.
While the quarterbacks deserve their flowers, the Bears have a looming problem on offense. What is that problem? They have way too many good wide receivers to choose from for the 53-man roster.
Bears' wide receivers stole the show in preseason opening win over the Browns
Arguably the biggest star of the group was former UFL wide receiver and return specialist Kaden Davis. After dominating through training camp, Davis carried it over to the preseason, leading the Bears with four receptions for 88 yards, including a 41-yard completion from Bagent.
Another stand out was Maurice Alexander, who was onstandout the Bears' practice squad all of last year. Alexander had three receptions for 42 yards and a 25-yard touchdown catch in the second quarter.
If Bears fans thought they were both good, just look at the total wide receiver numbers from the game:

That's about as balanced a stat line as the wide receivers can have. They all made big plays, and each had at least one catch that went for over 10 yards.
Yes, Chicago has a big roster problem, and it's one they won't complain about. The Bears have a ton of really good wide receivers who could make a case for the practice squad or the 53-man roster.
Davis and Alexander are going to get the most attention because they were great at the wide receiver position, but they can help on special teams as returners as well. As for the other three, they're big question marks.
Credit to McCloud for coming in late to camp and putting up big numbers as the team's second-leading receiver. Miller is a veteran who may be playing just to create tape and get signed elsewhere. Richardson looks poised to get on the practice squad for the Bears again.

Two preseason games remain before the team makes any final decisions, but the wide receivers aren't making it easy on the coaching staff. The five main ones from the preseason game are going to give the Bears a tough decision to make as to whether they should actually carry six wide receivers instead of five.
