The one-year experiment with wide receiver Olamide Zaccheaus has officially ended with the Chicago Bears.
NFL insider Tom Pelissero reported that the Atlanta Falcons are going to bring Zaccheaus back after signing with the team as an undrafted free agent in 2019. Zaccheaus spent his first four seasons in Atlanta.
Last season with the Bears, Zaccheaus had 39 receptions for 313 yards and two touchdowns. He only caught 60% of his targets, which was tied for the third lowest of his NFL career.
Olamide Zaccheaus departs from Bears to Atlanta
The Bears were not expected to bring Zaccheaus back after his struggles in the 2025 season. His drops were a big problem, showcased against the New York Giants, with three bad ones that nearly cost them the game.
Ultimately, Zaccheaus lost playing time to Luther Burden in the slot after being in that starting role at the beginning of the season. Burden ended up being a rising star at the end of the season and someone that quarterback Caleb Williams trusted in the passing game over Zaccheaus.
Chicago has not lost two wide receivers this offseason as Zaccheaus joins DJ Moore as the departed players from the team. Moore was traded from the Bears to the Buffalo Bills with a 2026 fifth-round pick in exchange for a 2026 second-round pick.
The Bears should still be in the market to add another wide receiver either through the NFL Draft or in free agency. Expect them to use one of their early-round picks to find some depth pieces at the position.

Zaccheaus' time in Chicago was short-lived and didn't have quite the impact some expected. He moves on to a new home as the Bears have other roster issues to address.
