Chicago Bears trade back in full mock draft—Still steal a future superstar

The Chicago Bears attacked free agency with precision. It set themselves up for what could be a fantastic 2025 NFL Draft class. In this seven-round mock draft, the Bears trade back and still land a future superstar.

With three second-round picks, the Chicago Bears will have a great opportunity to attack the heart of the 2025 NFL Draft class. With not many top prospects worthy of excitement this year, most of the top prospects are grading out as late first-rounders to third-round prospects. There is plenty of depth at the DE, DT, CB, and RB positions. There isn't a quarterback in this class that I'd consider with a top-three pick in any other draft, but I expect Cam Ward to be taken in the top 10. This is unfortunate because it means that fewer prospects will fall to the Bears at 10 and the second round.

2.39 | Xavier Watts, S - Notre Dame

If Xavier Watts goes to the Chicago Bears at 39 and they do not select him I'd be disappointed. I am biased to Notre Dame but Watts is easily my second-favorite safety in this draft class. He is a true ball hawk who can get his hands on the football. He is a versatile safety who plays more like a free safety, but would do well in Dennis Allen's system. Allen likes to disguise his coverages and plays quarters quite often. This requires the safeties to be somewhat interchangeable. Watts can be that guy and can take over the starting spot in 2026 when Kevin Byard is no longer on the roster.

I have him graded out as a late first-rounder. Landing him in the early second would be an absolute steal. Safety isn't an immediate need for the Chicago Bears, but it is still a future need. Byard will be 32 before the season starts, and taking Watts at this point sets the defense up for the next four years.

Another trade for Ryan Poles and the Chicago Bears. This time, the Bears moved back four spots since there were plenty of strong options available at multiple positions. I had one guy high on my board and took a risk moving back. The risk paid off, as he was still available.
