The Chicago Bears will be open to considering many positions in the 2026 NFL Draft as they try to improve their roster following last season's memorable playoff run.
Most of the work will be done with the defense, as they need help on the defensive line and in the secondary, as well as depth at linebacker. Edge rusher and defensive tackle might end up taking most of the attention for the Bears.
NFL Draft On SI's Justin Melo interviewed Ohio State defensive tackle Kayden McDonald, who mentioned that he has met with multiple teams, including the Bears. McDonald was an All-American last season, racking up 65 tackles, nine tackles for loss, three sacks, one pass deflection, and one fumble recovery.
Bears spoke with Kayden McDonald before 2026 NFL Draft
McDonald would instantly be a Day 1 starter on the Bears at defensive tackle and give them the boost they desperately need on the line. Grady Jarrett was a massive disappointment for the Bears after signing a large three-year deal last offseason. Gervon Dexter is the top guy and continues to get better.
The Bears made a ton of signings at defensive tackle to build up the depth at the position after losing guys. None of their signings would be considered upgrades who can start right away, though.
McDonald can do it all at defensive tackle, putting pressure on the quarterback while stopping the run. His physicality to his play would be a perfect fit for what Bears defensive coordinator Dennis Allen is looking for in his linemen.

While edge rusher is arguably the more important position for the Bears to address, McDonald at 25 would be too hard for Chicago to pass up if he is still there.
