Depending on what website you use for the latest NFL news, you may be going around thinking that the Chicago Bears have a 2025 fourth-round draft pick.
For instance, the NFL's own website shows the Bears as the owners of the No. 114 pick of the 2025 NFL Draft, courtesy of the Carolina Panthers. The presumption was the Panthers included a 2025 fourth-round pick in their trade for No. 1 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.
To remind everyone, the full details of that trade saw the Bears trade the top pick in the 2023 NFL Draft to the Panthers for wide receiver DJ Moore, a 2023 first-round pick, a 2023 second-round pick, a 2024 first-round pick, and, lastly, a 2025 second-round pick.
The Panthers did not send their 2025 fourth-round pick to the Bears
The No. 114 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft originally belonged to the Dallas Cowboys. The Cowboys traded that pick to the Panthers last season for wide receiver Jonathan Mingo. As of this writing, the No. 114 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft does not belong with the Bears, it remains with the Panthers.
As for the Bears, the reason they do not currently have a 2025 fourth-round pick is due to that pick being traded tot he Buffalo Bills during the 2024 NFL Draft. The Bears offered that pick to the Bills in order to gain a 2024 fifth-round pick and select Austin Booker.
It's a pretty straightforward exercise the follow the movement of the 2025 fourth-round picks that never belonged to the Bears. One was a pick that the Bears were never involved with while the Bears moved their own 2025 fourth-round pick to the Bills last year.
Since you survived this exercise without getting out your detective suit and going to Bears' reddit, below is a list of the 2025 NFL Draft Picks the Bears actually have the rights to.
